The RAF has defended the skies of Britain for over 100 years, in alliance with UK and international partners. Their key role is to:
- Respond to threats: to be ready at a moment's notice, night or day, 365 days a year
- Prevent conflict: to strengthen national and international security and to protect the interests of the UK and allies
- Watch the skies: to monitor potential threats to UK airspace 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- Deliver aid: to provide urgent assistance in an emergency, from floods in the UK, to the Ebola outbreak in Africa and devastating hurricanes in the Caribbean
- Work in partnership: to collaborate with government, military and civilian partners in the UK and overseas
- Combat cyber threats: The RAF's cyberspace specialists work to protect against cyberspace threats
